Midwest News & Roundup - Week 3

Welcome to the Midwest News & Roundup. I will highlight women's NCAA D-III soccer games in the Midwest area (comprised of the Great Lakes, Central, and North Regions). National importance will be followed by regional importance and towards the end of the season conference considerations will crop up. Time is limited so I exercise judgement on notable games to report each week. My editors make me look good; thank you.

Week 3 Notes

No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan with two straight weeks of having the most dramatic comebacks in college soccer. For the neutral fan there is some exciting soccer going on!

The column is on to Week 3 of the 2018 season with news and review based on the games to watch from last week and any eye catching results.


And then there was one. The St. Catherine Wildcats at 3-0-1 are the only undefeated team left in the North region. They narrowly escaped this week with a draw in game where they outshot their opponents 22-8.

No. 17 St. Thomas (5-1-0 / 1-0-0)

No. 17 nationally, and the only team from the North region ranked in the Top 25 are the Tommies of St. Thomas. They have a test on Saturday, September 22 against Gustavus Adolphus (4-2-0 / 1-0-0) in a regional game to watch.

UW-La Crosse (3-2-1)

There were a number of teams 'receiving votes' from the North region in the D3 Soccer Top 25 poll. In order of votes received is UW-La Crosse with two victories this week in region after a tough national schedule to open the year. They won both games 2-1 with Wednesday’s match over [read more]

Midwest Roundup


The weekly Midwest Roundup will survey the Division III men's soccer landscape throughout Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Missouri and look at some of the key match-ups, results, and standout performances, identifying who is trending up and who is trending down each week.
