Messiah women, Calvin men lead the pack

The new Top Poll is now official for week two, and as predicted, we have a new men's No. 1 team in Calvin College. The Knights are undefeated at 4-0 and have outscored their opponents 10-2 thus far in the season. The women's top team, Messiah, is also 4-0 and the defending national champs are enjoying a strong start to their season. Check out the complete poll for both men and women.

Calvin picked up 15 of the 25 available first place votes this week, followed by Christopher Newport, who picked up the remaining 10 votes. The Messiah woman grabbed all 25 first place votes in their poll. Read what others are saying about the soccer season and the Top 25 on

At No. 3 for the men is Carnegie Mellon, moving up one spot with an undefeated record still in tact. Sliding into the No. 4 position is Johns Hopkins, followed by Hobart at No. 5. The Statesmen were last week's number one team, but fell 1-0 to SUNY Brockport over the weekend.

Programs with both men and women ranked in the Top 25 Poll this week are: Calvin, Johns Hopkins, Hobart/William Smith, Williams, Messiah, Trinity (Tx.), Wheaton (Ill.), and Emory.

In the women's top five, TCNJ remains at No. 2, Hardin-Simmons moves up to No. 3, William Smith moves up two to No. 4, and Otterbein holds at No. 5.

New to the men's poll this week is No. 22 UW-Whitewater, No. 24 Wheaton (Mass.), and No. 25 Emory.
