CNU back to No. 2, Trinity jumps to No. 3
Week eight is now in the books and the latest D3soccer.com Top 25 poll is complete. There are no surprises at the top, but with a week full of upsets and draws, there is a new order. Here is the complete Top 25 for the men and women.
In the men's poll, Messiah continues its hold at the top, gathering all but one of the first place votes. The other vote went to Christopher Newport, coming up from the fourth spot to claim No. 2. The Captains won twice this past week, moving to 15-1-1. In the third position is Trinity (TX), jumping three lines at 14-2, and at No. 4 is Ohio Wesleyan, moving up three spots as well at 12-1-2. The Bishops haven't lost a match since their opener at Wheaton (Ill.). No. 5 goes to Dominican, slipping from No. 2 as a result of a tough 2-0 loss to Loras.
The women's poll has Messiah at No. 1 with all of the first place votes, making a statement as the toughest woman's team this season. Hardin-Simmons can make a similar claim at No. 2 and at 15-0, while 15-0-1 Illinois Wesleyan remains at No. 3, following a scoreless draw with Augustana. Otterbein sticks at No. 4 with two shut-outs this past week, undefeated at 14-0-1, and new at the fifth spot is Wheaton (IL) after their 4-1 win over CCIW foe and top ten Augustana.
Programs with teams in both polls this week include Messiah, Trinity (TX), Emory, Stevens Tech, Calvin, Rochester, and Johns Hopkins.
Newcomers to the women's poll this week is Rochester, entering at No. 24.
