Thomas More women upset No. 2 Trinity, No. 1 Lynchburg wins

Women's NCAA post-season action provided a number of nail-biters on Saturday, as two matches went into overtime, and two ended with a shootout.

In women's early action, No. 2 Messiah shutout Nazareth 3-0, while later, top-ranked Lynchburg blanked No. 8 Montclair State 2-0. The Falcons and the Hornets will play on Sunday for the chance for a Final Four berth.

No. 25 Illinois Wesleyan earned an Elite 8 spot for the first time in program history as the Titans edged No. 14 Chicago 3-2 in double overtime. Senior Tess Bottorff scored the game winner in the 104th minute. Chicago ends their season at 15-5-1, while the Titans improve to 17-6-1.

Centre needed a shootout to advance past No. 18 Aurora, and will face Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday.

No. 15 Johns Hopkins advanced past No. 7 Carnegie-Mellon in penalties, after the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.

The Blue Jays will face No. 9 Thomas More, who upset No. 2 Trinity (Texas) in double overtime. Senior Emily Sanker scored the winner in the 107th minute off an assist by Erika LaRosa. The Tigers finish at 22-1-1.

No. 6 Williams edged Roger Williams 3-2, on a goal in the 90th minute by sophomore Audry Thomas. RWU ends their season at 19-3-4, their first ever appearence in the third round of the NCAA tournament.

The Ephs will face the tenth-ranked Lions of TCNJ, who were 3-1 winners over No. 16 Misericordia. Senior Korrie Harkins scored the first and second goal for the Lions, while sophomore Christine Levering added a third goal early in the second half. Miniutes later, senior Erin Roberts would get Misericordia on the board, but the match would end with the Lions advancing. The Cougars end at 19-3-1, having made their their third straight appearence in the Sweet 16.
