Box Score

On Sunday, the Yellowjacket men's soccer team played its second home match in as many days, hosting St. Olaf College.  The Oles entered the game unbeaten, a perfect 6-0 and ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III North Region.  The Yellowjackets didn't seem to care.  An early second half goal was all the offense necessary and the eighth-ranked Yellowjackets went on to a 1-0 victory on a rainy afternoon Duluth East High School Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Yellowjackets broke through against the Oles at 47:48.  Logan George (Ramsey, Minn.) made the kick from the corner and Alberto Rivero (Santander, Spain) was there to steer it home, making it 1-0 Yellowjackets.  It was Rivero's third goal of the season, which leads the team.

The Yellowjackets outshot the Oles 16-14, including 7-5 in shots on goal.  Matt Elder (New Hope, Minn.) made five saves in the match, improving his record to 2-1 on the season and picking up his first collegiate shutout.  Harry Ullman made six saves for St. Olaf.

The Yellowjackets (4-2, 0-1 WIAC) will travel to the Twin Cities on Wednesday, September 21, where they will take on Hamline University.  The match will get underway at 4:00 p.m.
