Chicago, Ill. – The Wheaton men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at University of Chicago (2-1-1) on Tuesday afternoon under clear and mild conditions on Chicago's south side. Wheaton, ranked 22nd in this week's rankings, is now 4-1 on the year. The Thunder will host Calvin College on Friday night at 7 PM.

Today's decisive goal was scored at the 19:26 mark of the match by Thunder freshman Marshall Hollingsworth.  A well-placed pass by Nathan Jasperse gave Hollingsworth an open one-on-one opportunity and the newcomer converted it into his first collegiate goal.

Chicago owned a 15-12 advantage in shots during the match, including a 9-5 edge in the first half. The Maroons attempted four corner kicks, while the Thunder had three.

The Wheaton defense paced a strong overall effort in the back this afternoon. Goalkeeper Ryan Seager led that effort with six saves as he recorded his third shutout of the year.

Chicago split time at goalkeeper, with David Cohen playing the first half and Brett Wiesen in the second half. Cohen allowed one goal and made one save. Wiesen did not allow a goal and he made three saves in the Maroons' net.
