DECORAH, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer ended its 310-minute scoring drought on Wednesday night, defeating 19th-ranked Luther College, 2-1, at Decorah, Iowa.

"We played with much more composure, defended really well and countered with effectiveness night," said head coach Enzo Fuschino. "This was a big win versus a top-25 team, which will give us the necessary confidence moving forward."

The Pioneers were held scoreless in their three games last week and went into halftime against Luther without either team scoring.

Freshman Keith Baerwald delivered a great cross from the right flank and junior Stephen Hall deflected it with his right foot past the goalie, ending the Pioneers scoreless skid in the 65th-minute.

At the 77:23 mark, senior Michael Prudisch delivered on a penalty kick giving the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage.  Luther's JW Slauson scored in the 84th-minute, but UW-Platteville withstood the Norse last minute attacks capturing the 2-1 victory.

The Pioneers begin conference action on Saturday at UW-Superior and then finish their weekend trip at WIAC foe Finlandia on Sunday.
