NJCU MEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS 7-0 SOUTH JERSEY SETBACK

GALLOWAY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Three days after earning perhaps its most impressive win of the season, the New Jersey City University men's soccer team suffered a serious setback in South Jersey. For the first time on record in school history, NJCU's defense suffered two own goals, and first-place Richard Stockton College  scored five times in the first half en route to a stunning 7-0 rout of the Gothic Knights in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on October 5 at G. Larry James Stadium.

NJCU (5-5-0, 2-2-0 NJAC) suffered its most lopsided loss since the 2010 season and for the first time this season was outshot by an opponent, 21-10. Stockton (8-2-2, 5-0-0 NJAC) moved five points in front of No. 2 nationally ranked Rutgers-Camden in the NJAC standings. Stockton held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Prior to the loss, NJCU's previous four defeats were all by either one goal or were one-goal games entering the 90th minute.
 
Stockton was the beneficiary of owns goals in the 15th and 64th minutes, with the hosts earning scores in the 22nd, 24th, 42nd, 45th and 75thminutes.
