In front of an energetic crowd, NJCU (7-8-1) outshot Maritime (5-9-2), 25-14, including 16-6 in the second half in just the second-ever meeting between the schools. Four different players scored for the Gothic Knights in a game that was even, 1-1, at halftime.

After Maritime scored in the 9th minute for a 1-0 lead, junior center midfielder KELVIN FLORES (Hightstown, NJ/Hightstown) tied it in the 14th minute and junior center midfielder MARCO AVELLA(Union, NJ/Union) put NJCU in front in the 51st.

NJCU would score the final four goals of the game as rookie midfielder DAVAUNI BROWN (Newark, NJ/Newark Tech) netted his second career goal in the 89th minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder ABOUBACAR DIAWARA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) before the tandem teamed up just moments later with Diawara putting away his team-best ninth goal of the season off a Brown thru ball.

The two 89th minute insurance goals by Brown and Diawara proved to be the fourth fastest consecutive goals in known school history. Earlier this year, Diawara had been part of a two-goal sequence which at the time held the No. 4 ranking in program history.
