Hope men's soccer topped by Calvin in MIAA semifinals
The Hope College men's soccer team will wait until next week to see if it receives one of 19 at-large berths to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Flying Dutchmen lost to nationally ranked Calvin College 5-0 on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
Hope entered this week third in the Central Region rankings by the NCAA. The third of our regional rankings will be released on Wednesday, October 31 but will not include results from this week.
The final regional rankings are released on Monday, November 5, in conjunction with the NCAA announcement of the 62-team field for the Division III Tournament.
The Flying Dutchmen now own a 14-3-1 overall record that includes two losses to Calvin (16-1 overall).
Against third-ranked Calvin, Hope was outshot by a 24-6 margin. Goalie Blair McCormick of Wadsworth, Illinois (Warren Township HS) made three saves. The Knights (16-1) scored four second-half goals.
