Hope rolls into MIAA women's soccer tournament
HOLLAND, Mich. – Tricia Bajema and Lindsay Jipping scored goals in each half to lift Hope College to an 8-0 victory over Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer action. Hope completed the regular season with a 10-4-2 record against MIAA rivals and it will meet Alma College in the semifinal round of the league tournament.
Bajema, who finished the contest with six of Hope's 41 shots, also dished out an assist. Lindsey Bieri also scored a goal for Hope's starting unit. Reserves Kristina Bosch, Kristin Hazlett, Raisa Yewah each scored a goal.
Albion goalkeeper Madeline Hutchison stopped the first three shots she faced, but Hope's attack was relentless. Bieri scored in the 27th minute and the Flying Dutch tacked on three more goals in the first half.
Hutchison was credited with seven saves before giving way for Victoria Della Pia who made five saves in the second half.
Lindsey Lubanski took two of Albion's four shots, placing one on goal. Christine McClure also placed a shot on goal.
