BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Sophomore Mackenzie Hatfield (Whitman, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and two assists for six points to lead Bridgewater State to an 8-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.
Hatfield staked the visiting Bears (6-4-2, 3-0-2 MASCAC) to a 2-0 lead just 8:48 into the contest with her two tallies, and she then set up junior Emily Lane (Parsonsfield, Maine) in the 18th minute before providing a feed to junior Erica Jonasson (Wrentham, Mass.) just 1:43 into the second half of play. Jonasson and fellow junior Lauren Bandoian (Medford, Mass.) added markers just 46 seconds apart early after intermission to extend Bridgewater State's lead to 6-0, and goals by senior Caley McClendon (Keene, N.H.) and sophomore Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) in the final 14:48 iced the visitors' triumph.
Senior Katie Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) and sophomores Bridget O'Leary (Whitman, Mass.) and Olivia Planty (Litchfield, N.H.) added assists in the win for Bridgewater State, as senior Kerry Condon (Whitman, Mass.) picked up her first victory of the season without making a save in the opening half of play for the Bears, who received a second half stop from sophomore Emma Titus (Salem, Mass.). Sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 14 saves in the setback for the host Buccaneers (4-6-3, 0-5 MASCAC), as Bridgewater State took 32 of the 34 shots (22-1 on goal) while also taking 11 of the 12 corners on the afternoon.
