Midwest Roundup - Week 7
By Jordan Vejar
Week Seven shaped up to be a massive week for many teams across the region who have begun conference play with multiple strong performances. Among those teams with undefeated conference records thus far, they will aim to continue their winning ways this week as the midway points of conference play are upon most.
MacMurray (4-7-0 / 2-1-0) is coming off two back-to-back SLIAC conference wins over Blackburn and Greenville. Both matches ended in a 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Highlanders. Along with both wins, Sophomore Goalkeeper, Brantley Estes earned SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Coach Mansholt and the Highlanders will face SLIAC opponents Eureka on Wednesday and a very hot Spalding side this weekend.
Ohio Wesleyan (8-3-2 / 3-0-0) extended their winning streak to four games this past week, knocking off NCAC opponents Oberlin and Wooster by a combined score of 7-0. The Battling Bishops defense has not conceded a goal during the four-game winning streak and will aim to continue their strong defensive performances against Kenyon and Allegheny in NCAC play this week. Coach Martin and his team will host both games this week with the goal of remaining undefeated in conference play.
