Roberts Wesleyan Puts Clamps On Royals
ROCHESTER, NY—Roberts Wesleyan held The University of Scranton to just four shot attempts en route to a 3-0 victory in the first of a two-game road trip for the Royals in upstate New York Saturday afternoon.
Freshman midfielder Michael Cunningham (Derbyshire, England) and senior forward Brent Owens (Letchworth, NY) scored unassisted goals in the first half as the Raiders bolted out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. With the win, Roberts Wesleyan improved to 2-3-0, while the Royals fell to 0-1-2.
In the 75th minute, freshman midfielder Stephen Stewart (Rochester, NY) closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal. The Raiders held a 12-4 advantage in shots.
Junior goalkeeper Jamie Dillon (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) finished with four saves while Raider junior Erik Read (Webster, NY) stopped two shots to earn the shutout.
The Royals will take on St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
