Brooklyn Falls at FDU-Florham, 3-2
Madison, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup earlier today to the Devils of Fairleigh Dickinson University College at Florham, by a score of 3-2. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Devils improve to 2-4 overall on the season.
Brooklyn would jump out to an early 1-0 lead, as sophomore Pajtim Gjonbalaj notched his first goal of the season at 6:46. Gjonbalaj finished last season tied for the team lead in goals.
The Bulldogs would maintain their lead until the 31st minute of play as the Devils would find the equalizer on a corner kick, as Anthony Scarcone found the back of the net assisted by Emin Matezic.
The game would remain knotted at 1-1 heading into the halftime break.
FDU-Florham would take its first lead of the ballgame on a header from Brent Hasko in the 50th minute to give the home team a 2-1 advantage, as Sean Mosser assisted on the goal with the throw in. Florham would never look back again, as Matezic gave the Devils a 3-1 lead in the 66th minute, putting a cross from Brian Nazari past the keeper.
Junior Denton Laing would later cut BC's deficit to 3-2, scoring his first career goal as a Bulldog in the 76th minute. However; that's as close as Brooklyn would get, as the Devils defense kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
For the game, Florham outshot Brooklyn 28-7 and also held the corner kick advantage 10-2. Brooklyn was whistled for 16 fouls, while Florham was called for 12 fouls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stamatis Boundouris registered 10 saves in net for the Bulldogs playing all 90 minutes, while his counterpart Steven Domino recorded one save on the day.
Brooklyn is back in action this Monday, September 19th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary College. Start time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
