Brooklyn Men's Soccer Blanked by Manhattanville, 2-0
Purchase, NY --- On the second day of the 2012 Valiant Classic, the Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to host Manhattanville College. With the loss, BC drops to 1-3 overall on the season, while the Valiants improve to 3-1-1.
The match featured a tight contest early on as the teams headed into the halftime break in a scoreless tie. Manhattanville would be the first to break through, as Sabastian Siring got the home team on the board with his first goal of the season in the 51st minute of action.
The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the Valiants until the 61st minute, when Moshee Kelyana took a cross from teammate Kyle Cassidy to put Manhattanville up 2-0.
Brooklyn's Stamatis Boundouris played all 90 minutes in net allowing two goals and making eight saves. Manhattanville split time with their netminders as Willie Silber played the first half making one save; while Zach Benton played the final 45 minutes making four saves, as the duo combined for the shutout.
The Valiants outshot the Bulldogs 20-10 and also held the corner kick advantage, 4-1. Manhattanville was whistled for 16 fouls, while BC was called for 14 fouls in what was a physical match all afternoon long.
Brooklyn returns to the pitch on Thursday, September 13th, as the Bulldogs will make their long awaited home debut against borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start time.
