Brooklyn's Gjonbalaj Named CUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Flushing, NY --- Brooklyn College junior Pajtim Gjonbalaj has been named the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Applebee's Men's Soccer Player of the Week, for the week ending September 23rd.

Over BC's span of three games this past week; Gjonbalaj was a major force in fueling Brooklyn's offense, tallying four of the Bulldogs nine goals, as BC posted a 2-0-1 record.

Coming in Brooklyn's first game of the week, a 6-0 victory against Berkerley College (NY) on Monday, September 17th, Gjonbalaj netted the first two goals of the game to help put the Bulldogs ahead for good.

Gjonbalaj would continue to capitalize on his scoring opportunities, as the junior forward blasted a game-tying goal against conference rival City College of New York (CCNY) on Wednesday, September 19th. The game would end in a 1-1 tie.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt product would finish his outstanding week with another game-winning goal against league foe York College on Saturday, September 22nd. BC would eventually win the game 2-0.

For the week, Gjonbalaj recorded four goals (two game-winning goals) for eight points, while taking 13 shots, with nine coming on goal.

Brooklyn will be back in action tonight, Monday, September 24th, as the Bulldogs will be on the road to take on borough rival Polytechnic Institute of New York University. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time at Aviator Sports Complex.
