Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team picked up a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) victory over reigning conference champion Lehman College by a score of 2-1 this afternoon at Brooklyn College Field. The win propels the Bulldogs to 6-4-2 overall on the season and 2-1-2 in the CUNYAC, while the Lightning fall to 3-9-1 overall and an even 2-2 in league play.

The win also improves Brooklyn's home record to 3-0-1.

BC would strike early, as junior co-captain Peter Vavalle knocked home his first collegiate goal on a header off of a corner kick from classmate Alwyn Adams in the 16th minute.

The Bulldogs would hold on to their early lead throughout the period and head into the halftime break up 1-0.

The Brooklyn offense would strike once again in the 59th minute, as Adams dribbled alone and took a shot from about 30 yards out that found the back of the net to give the Bulldogs a much needed insurance goal and a 2-0 cushion.

Adams' goal would prove to be the difference maker, as Lehman would get on the scoreboard in the 65th minute when Aleh Kazak headed in the Lightning lone goal of the day off of a corner kick from Will Arbieto-Lopez.

With the Bulldogs clinching on to a slim 2-1 lead, the BC defense buckled down for the remainder of the game, as Brooklyn would come away victorious.

Overall, the Lightning outshot the Bulldogs 16-13, while BC held the corner kick edge 5-1. Brooklyn was whistled for 18 fouls, compared to Lehman being called for 10.

Junior co-captain Stamatis Boundouris played all 90 minutes in goal for BC, allowing one goal and recording four saves, while his counterpart, Maurice Whyte also played all 90 minutes in net, allowing two goals and tallying seven saves.

Up next for Brooklyn will be another key CUNYAC contest, as the Bulldogs will play host to borough rival Medgar Evers College on Wednesday, October 10th. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start time at BC Field.
