Brooklyn Sweeps CUNYAC Weekly Awards
Flushing, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team swept all three weekly awards from the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), for the week ending September 22nd.
Sophomore Oleg Tykhonravov was named the CUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, while freshman Gabriel Narvaez was named the CUNYAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week. For the second straight week, senior goalkeeper Stamatis Boundouris was named the CUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Tykhonravov, Narvaez and Boundouris helped lead BC to an even 1-1 week. Brooklyn suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Farmingdale State (September 18th) and shutout conference rival York College (September 21st).
Starting in both games on the week, Tykhonravov notched a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner, in helping lead the Bulldogs to a 4-0 win against conference rival York College. For Tykhonravov, it was his first career game scoring two goals.
Narvaez played in both games, while making one start this past week. Coming into the game as a substitute, he scored his first career goal against York to cap off the 4-0 win.
Boundouris started in both games this past week, playing in all 180 minutes in goal. In a tough 1-0 loss against Farmingdale State, Boundouris totaled three saves, including a key penalty shot save to keep the game scoreless at the time. Against York, Boundouris recorded four saves en route to registering his second shutout of the season.
