Raiders Fall to North Park 1-3, O’Donnell Scores Lone Goal
Chicago, Ill. –With pace on the front line, that MSOE had not yet encountered, North Park took the game to the Raiders early. In the seventh minute their efforts paid off. They maintained the 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half the Vikings added two more goals to increase their lead to 3-0. In the 80th minute the Raiders continued their streak of scoring in every match when Anna O'Donnell (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield North H.S.) spun and finished inside the North Park box. In the 85th minute Maureen Thompson's (Grayslake, Ill. / Carmel Catholic) well placed corner begged for a finishing touch, but it never transpired. The game finished 1-3 in favor of the Vikings.
Coach Rolf Zersen commented on the match, "This was not our best performance. We did not play well enough in most phases of the game. We had a few chances in the first half and a few in the second. We came on late, but we were already down 3. Tori St. Martin (Dellwood, Minn. / Mahtomedi) was a warrior tonight. But overall we can play better and must play better. This game needs to be fuel for the Rockford game this Saturday."
MSOE is 3-3-1 and 1-2 in conference play on the season. There next opponent is Rockford this Saturday, the 22nd at 1:00 pm in Rockford, Ill.
