Wade and Ramos Score as Women’s Team Records Fifth Shutout of Season
MASBETH, N.Y. – Hours after the City College of New York's men's soccer team defeated John Jay College of Criminal Justice's men's squad, 2-0, the Beavers' women's team posted an identical 2-0 shutout victory over the Bloodhounds as Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade and Paola Ramos scored one goal apiece.
Wade now has recorded nine goals in her senior season and the victory marked the fifth shutout of the 2012 campaign for CCNY. The Beavers improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in City University of New York Athletic Conference action while the Bloodhounds fell to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Goalkeeper Nicole Carroll made one save as City College's defense was superb, allowing just two shots all evening as Carroll improved to 7-1 on the year.
A tied game until the final minutes of the first period, Ramos scored the game's first goal and her third goal of 2012 on a pass from senior Frances Tapia, her fifth assist of the year, to give CCNY a 1-0 lead.
Ramos also picked up her second assist in as many games as Wade found the back of the net giving the Beavers a two-goal advantage.
The Beavers host SUNY Purchase at Randall's Island Field 44 on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 PM.
