Wade and Tapia Record Hat Tricks
NEW YORK – Talk about a storybook ending for these group of seniors. On a rainy senior night for the City College of New York, seniors Dzindzi Asamoah-Wade and Frances Tapia scored three goals apiece as the Beavers shutout NYU-Poly (2-10-1), 6-0, at Randall's Island Field 10.
Wade and Tapia now have 17 goals and 10 goals, respectively, in the 2012 campaign as the Beavers (11-2) posted their ninth shutout of the season and fourth consecutive shutout. Wade, who was named CUNYAC/Applebee's Women's Soccer Player of the Week earlier today, scored the game's first goal in just under four minutes to begin the contest on a pass from Heather Ruger. The goal was the first of four goals scored in the first half and Wade added a goal in the 25th minute and Tapia scored two goals in the 34th minute and the 38th minute in the nonconference game.
Wade recorded her second hat trick of the season just one minute into the second half while Tapia picked up her own hat trick in the 75th minute. Along with Ruger and Wade, Elif Demrican, Jessica Salas and Taylor Jo Gillen recorded assists in the shutout victory.
Goalkeeper Nicole Carroll improved to 11-2 on the year and picked up her ninth shutout victory of the season, recording five saves in the process.
City College hosts John Jay College on Wednesday at 3 PM at the grass field on the campus of Purchase College.
