DEFIANCE, OHIO – Junior goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.) thwarted four Defiance College shot on goal attempts, en route to her third solo and fourth overall clean sheet of 2013 Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Willmann, facing nine total Yellowjacket shots, registered her 19th career shutout as part of a 1-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win at DC's Winsper-Knoble Field. MU's offense gave her enough support in the 81st minute when junior midfielder Sofie Tzortzinis (Ann Arbor, Mich.) grabbed a loose ball near the box and sent it into the back of the net for her second game-winning and third overall goal of the season.

The win increased the Black and Gold's current win streak to three, matching a similar run from earlier in the year. Manchester University (7-6-1, 3-1 HCAC) out-shot its hosts 16-9 with Tzortzinis, junior forward Katelyn Barta (Griffith, Ind.) and sophomore midfielder Allison Rowe (La Quinta, Calif.) each compiling three total and two shot on goal tries apiece.

The Spartans, trailing league unbeaten Rose-Hulman by a game on the conference standings, return to Spartan Field for Senior Day 2013 festivities Saturday, Oct. 19. MU welcomes Earlham College for a 1 p.m. kickoff, as midfielder Allison Harper (Granger, Ind.), the squad's lone Class of 2013 member, will be recognized pre-match.

NOTES: Tzortzinis moved into third place on the program's goals (three) and points (eight) categories after her game winner. She is second in total shots (22), assists (two) and game-winning goals and is tied for the same in shots on goal (13) with junior forward Breanna McLane (Westville, Ind.) … A win Saturday would mark MU's longest win string since the 2008 squad reeled off four straight.
