Manchester University places five on top two all-HCAC women's honor teams

More news about: Manchester women's team

Sophomore forward Brandy Crouse (Cleves, Ohio), junior forward Katelyn Barta (Griffith, Ind.), junior goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.), junior midfielder Sofie Tzortzinis (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and sophomore midfielder Allison Rowe (LaQuinta, Calif.) were placed on the first and second all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honor teams, released Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Barta and Crouse, both first team selections, made up one of the conference and region's more potent one-two offensive combinations. They combined for 23 of the team's 36 goals and became the first pair of Spartans' players to score 10-or-more goals in a year since 2006. Barta picked up second first team award, while Crouse earned her first such honor.

Second team accolades went to Rowe, Tzortzinis and Willmann. Rowe and Tzortzinis helped lead a strong midfield area for MU, as two of Tzortzinis' three goals being game-winning scores and Rowe finished with two goals, including a game-winner, in 20 appearances. Willmann continued to make her mark in net as one of the league's and region's top keepers. Earning her third all-HCAC honor, she ended with five shutouts and 134 saves amongst her 12 victories.

Manchester University, ending with a sparkling runner-up effort and second successive HCAC postseason tournament appearance, added junior midfielders Amber Oster (Waterloo, Ind.) and Trinity Schelich (Indianapolis, Ind.) to the honorable mention and Sportsmanship squads, respectively.
